Willy Adames Racks up three hits Thursday
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 6:22 PM
Adames went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: All three hits were singles for the shortstop. Since June 10, Adames has gone 17-for-54 (.315) with four home runs, one double, nine RBI and a 7:15 BB:K across 15 games. That's a large enough sample to suggest he's working his way out of the struggles that defined the better part of his first two months of the season. He's at a .215/.298/.349 slash line with nine home runs, 35 RBI, 43 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and four stolen bases through 80 contests overall.
Rafael Devers
Rafael Devers Big performance in loss
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 6:19 PM
Devers went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: Devers is now 9-for-35 (.257) with four extra-base hits and five RBI over his first nine games with the Giants. He got them on the board in the third inning, and while they were able to overcome an early 5-0 deficit, the Marlins' second wind proved to be too much. Devers has a .270/.396/.502 slash line with 17 homers, 63 RBI, 50 runs scored, one stolen base and 20 doubles across 82 games between the Giants and the Red Sox this season. He's recently been playing through a mild groin issue, which continues to limit him to designated hitter.
Hayden Birdsong
Hayden Birdsong Roughed up in loss
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 6:14 PM
Birdsong (3-2) allowed seven runs on four hits and four walks while striking out one over four-plus innings to take the loss Thursday versus the Marlins.
Analysis: Birdsong gave up a three-run home run to Kyle Stowers in the first inning as well as a two-run blast to Agustin Ramirez in the third. More trouble popped up in the fifth, which led to Birdsong's exit from the contest. It's a second shaky outing in a row -- the 23-year-old has allowed 12 runs (11 earned) over his last 8.1 innings. He's now at a 4.13 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB across 56.2 innings over 18 appearances (seven starts) this season, but he's trending in the wrong direction. It's unclear at this time if his rotation spot is in danger. He's tentatively scheduled for a road start in Arizona early next week.
Casey Schmitt
Casey Schmitt CT scan returns negative
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 6:11 PM
Schmitt's CT scan on his injured left wrist came back negative Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Schmitt was hit by a pitch on his left wrist Wednesday and was held out of the lineup Thursday versus Miami. The versatile infielder underwent imaging, the results of which showed that he doesn't have a fracture. It's not yet clear if Schmitt will need to miss additional time, and for now he can be considered day-to-day.
Casey Schmitt
Casey Schmitt Undergoing CT scan
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 1:25 PM
Schmitt (wrist) will undergo a CT scan Thursday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: X-rays on Schmitt's left wrist came back negative after he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game versus the Marlins, but he'll have additional testing to make sure he didn't suffer a fracture. Schmitt is not in the Giants' lineup Thursday, and the team could have more on his condition after the contest.
Patrick Bailey
Patrick Bailey Taking seat Thursday
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 12:14 PM
Bailey isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Bailey will rest during Thursday's series finale after going 1-for-6 with an RBI and two strikeouts over the first two games of the series. Andrew Knizner will catch instead for starter Hayden Birdsong and bat ninth.
Casey Schmitt
Casey Schmitt Not in Thursday's lineup
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 12:11 PM
Schmitt (wrist) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Schmitt took a pitch off his left wrist during the ninth inning of Wednesday's contest, and the Giants intended to take him out of the game if his spot in the lineup was due up in extra innings. The 26-year-old said after the game that X-rays on his wrist came back negative, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, but the team will give him a day off Thursday to recover while Christian Koss starts at third base.
Christian Koss
Christian Koss Logs RBI in loss
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 7:19 AM
Koss went 0-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: Koss drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2. He later scored in the 10th, starting at second base as the automatic runner. The 27-year-old infielder is slashing .200/.188/.400 with four RBI, three runs scored, a home run and a stolen base across 17 plate appearances in June.
Mike Yastrzemski

Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 7:03 AM
Yastrzemski went 1-for-3 with a home run in Wednesday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: Yastrzemski hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first, marking his seventh of the season. The 34-year-old outfielder has recorded just two hits in his last four games, though both have been home runs. Yastrzemski is slashing .271/.362/.441 with 10 RBI, eight runs scored, two long balls and a 9:13 BB:K across 69 plate appearances in June.
Logan Webb
Logan Webb Records another quality start
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 3:05 AM
Webb allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six batters over six innings in a no-decision against Miami on Wednesday.
Analysis: Webb yielded a pair of runs in the second frame but otherwise kept the Marlins off the scoreboard. The right-hander walked three batters for the second time in his past three outings, but none of those free passes resulted in a run. Webb is an NL Cy Young contender at this point in the campaign, posting a 2.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 120:23 K:BB over 17 starts spanning 107.1 innings. He's registered six consecutive quality starts and is tied for first in the league in that category with 13 on the season.

The 25-year-old outfielder has recorded three extra-base hits over his last five outings, slashing .316/.381/.579 with five RBI, two runs scored, two doubles and one homer across 21 plate appearances. Overall, he's now slashing .286/.363/.476 with 48 runs scored, 43 RBI, 29 extra-base hits -- including 13 home runs -- and five stolen bases across 336 plate appearances so far this season.

Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 3:41 PM
Adames went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: Adames drew a walk in the second inning and stole his first base since May 30. However, the star shortstop failed to record a hit for the third time in his last five contests, during which he has posted a .200/.368/.400 slash line with four runs scored, one home run and a 4:6 BB:K across 19 plate appearances. Adames' struggles at the plate have persisted this month, as he's slashing .203/.301/.391 with 12 runs scored, eight RBI, four home runs, one stolen base and a 26.5 percent strikeout rate in 83 plate appearances during June.
Justin Verlander
Justin Verlander Back from paternity list
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 2:00 PM
The Giants reinstated Verlander (personal) from the paternity list Monday.
Analysis: Verlander was away from the team for the entire weekend while he observed the birth of his second child. He didn't miss a start while he was on paternity leave and will return to the mound for the Giants' series opener versus the Marlins on Tuesday.
Tyler Fitzgerald
Tyler Fitzgerald Dispatched to minors
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 2:00 PM
The Giants optioned Fitzgerald to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Analysis: Fitzgerald is slashing only .127/.197/.145 in June and had seen his playing time dip with four starts over the last seven contests. He'll head to Sacramento, where he will try to get his swing in order. The Giants will go with a combination of Brett Wisely and Christian Koss at second base until Matt Chapman (hand) returns from the injured list, at which point Casey Schmitt is likely to shift over to the keystone.
Tyler Rogers
Tyler Rogers Earns hold Sunday
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 9:30 AM
Rogers picked up a hold in a scoreless inning during Sunday's 9-5 win over the Red Sox, allowing two hits while striking out one.
Analysis: The 34-year-old surrendered a pair of singles, though Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was thrown out trying to stretch the first one into a double. Rogers was effective while earning his second hold in as many days, throwing 10 of his 12 pitches for strikes. The right-hander now owns a 1.24 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and a 31:4 K:BB across 36.1 innings in 38 appearances this season.
Matt Chapman
Matt Chapman Sheds splint, starts swinging
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 9:02 AM
Chapman (hand) said Sunday that he's no longer wearing a splint and has resumed one-handed swinging in the batting cage, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Chapman was placed on the 10-day injured list June 10 due to a right hand sprain, but he was cleared to resume baseball activities last week and ditched his splint Friday. Though Chapman is limited to taking one-handed swings for now, he could be ready to start taking full swings beginning Tuesday, per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News. The third baseman remains unlikely to return before the end of June, though he's hopeful he'll return before the All-Star break, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Casey Schmitt is expected to continue handling an everyday role at the hot corner until Chapman is activated.
Heliot Ramos
Heliot Ramos Collects four RBI in victory
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 6:47 PM
Ramos went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI in Sunday's 9-5 win against Boston.
Analysis: The San Francisco outfielder posted his second four-RBI performance this season, as he laced his 14th double. Ramos secured his first two RBI on a single in the third inning before driving home a pair on a two-bagger in the seventh. The 25-year-old appears bound for his second straight All-Star appearance thanks to a .285/.361/.474 slash line with 13 homers, 48 runs scored and 43 RBI across 322 plate appearances and 76 games.
Casey Schmitt
Casey Schmitt Knocks homer, four hits in win
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 6:26 PM
Schmitt went 4-for-4 with a homer, a double, and two additional runs scored in Sunday's 9-5 victory over the Red Sox.
Analysis: The 26-year-old infielder drew his 13th start at third base and fueled the Giants offense with his first career MLB game of three runs scored. This performance also marks Schmitt's second career four-hit contest with the first coming at Arizona on May 11, 2023. The San Diego State product has filled in admirably while Matt Chapman (hand) has been sidelined. Through 104 total plate appearances, Schmitt is slashing .286/.369/.462 with four homers, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored.
Robbie Ray
Robbie Ray Fans seven in no-decision
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 6:16 PM
Ray did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 9-5 win against Boston, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: The San Francisco southpaw conceded a season-worst eight base knocks in this 88-pitch outing over which he fired 61 strikes. Ray allowed two long balls -- solo homers to Romy Gonzalez and Ceddanne Rafaela -- in a start for the first time since his first appearance of the season at Cincinnati on March 30. Despite this unsteady performance, Ray remains one of the elite starting pitchers in the game. He will carry a 2.83 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 104:36 K:BB across 92.1 innings into his next start against the White Sox in Chicago next weekend.
Dominic Smith
Dominic Smith Sitting against RHP
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 3:11 PM
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Smith will take a seat against a right-handed pitcher (Lucas Gioliot) for the second time in the series. Smith has produced an .801 OPS in 16 games since joining the Giants earlier this month, but he could nonetheless have to settle for a part-time role at first base against right-handed pitching with the acquisition of Rafael Devers having displaced Wilmer Flores from the designated-hitter spot.
