Erik Miller
Erik Miller Earns first save
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 7:34 PM
Miller picked up the save Thursday against the Reds, tossing a shutout ninth inning with a walk and three strikeouts.
Analysis: Miller has a blown save on his ledger already this season but he took much better advantage of his second chance to lock down a game. The 28-year-old issued a one-out walk to Matt McLain, but he struck out the other three batters he faced to earn the save. With 10 strikeouts in six innings, the 28-year-old has the stuff to be an effective late-inning option but needs to find the consistency as even after Thursday's outing, he holds a 6.00 ERA and 1.83 WHIP on the season.
Jung Hoo Lee
Jung Hoo Lee Three-hit day in win
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 7:28 PM
Lee went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored during Thursday's 3-0 win over the Reds.
Analysis: Lee earned his second three-hit game of the season and fourth multi-hit game over the last week. The 27-year-old clinched the latter of those two feats with a RBI single as part of the three-run seventh inning that saw all the scoring for the entire game. In the last six games, Lee is 10-for-23 (.435 batting average) with three doubles, a home run and three RBI with just two strikeouts.
Landen Roupp
Landen Roupp Continues strong start to season
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 7:09 PM
Roupp (3-1) earned the win Thursday against the Reds, allowing no runs on one hit and two walks while striking out six in six innings pitched.
Analysis: Roupp is in just his second season as a full-time starter and is off to a very strong start through four outings on the year. The 27-year-old has allowed one run or fewer in three of those four starts this season and holds a 2.38 ERA overall, 0.97 WHIP, seven walks and 24 strikeouts in 22.2 innings pitched. Last year, he finished with a 3.80 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP, so those numbers are on pace to far surpass those if he can sustain it over a full season. The right-hander is scheduled to take the mound next against the high-flying Dodgers, tied for second in MLB with 105 runs scored on the season.
Patrick Bailey
Patrick Bailey Playing time likely to dip
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 10:26 AM
Giants manager Tony Vitello indicated Thursday that Bailey could split catching duties with Daniel Susac moving forward, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Bailey remains an elite defensive catcher, but he's a black hole offensively and has gotten off to a particularly rough start in 2026, slashing just .136/.191/.136. Meanwhile, Susac is 9-for-16 at the dish to open his career. Ultimately, there's a good chance neither of the Giants' top two catchers will do enough offensively to warrant being rostered outside of deep fantasy leagues.
Daniel Susac
Daniel Susac Could split starts with Bailey
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 10:23 AM
Giants manager Tony Vitello indicated Thursday that Susac could start splitting starts at catcher with Patrick Bailey, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Susac has made only four starts so far this season, but he's gone 9-for-16 with five RBI in the early going. The Rule 5 pick is likely to get exposed to some degree with additional playing time, but he's earned more reps over Bailey, who is slashing just .136/.191/.136.
Rafael Devers
Rafael Devers Multi-hit effort in defeat
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 9:57 AM
Devers went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: Devers hit a leadoff single in the seventh inning before coming around to score and added another base hit in the eighth. The veteran infielder has recorded five multi-hit performances so far this season, including two over the last six games. He's now slashing .229/.280/.329 with seven runs scored, six RBI and two long balls across 75 plate appearances in 2026.
Sam Hentges
Sam Hentges Logs scoreless inning in rehab game
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 9:47 AM
Hentges (knee/shoulder) struck out one in a scoreless inning during Triple-A Sacramento's 7-6 win over Tacoma on Wednesday.
Analysis: After tossing a scoreless inning for Single-A San Jose on Sunday, Hentges advanced to Sacramento for the next step of his rehab assignment and threw eight of his 13 pitches for strikes. The 29-year-old southpaw hasn't pitched in a big-league game since 2024 but appears to be trending in the right direction after undergoing left shoulder surgery in September 2024 and arthroscopic right knee surgery in August 2025.
Heliot Ramos
Heliot Ramos Out of lineup again Thursday
Thu, Apr 16, 2026, 8:59 AM
Ramos is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Cincinnati.
Analysis: Ramos isn't dealing with any known injury, but this will be his second straight game he's been absent from the lineup. He did come off the bench to deliver an RBI single in Wednesday's contest, but Ramos is slashing just .234/.258/.266 with a 2:24 BB:K in his first 17 contests this season. Will Brennan, Drew Gilbert and Jung Hoo Lee will form the Giants' outfield trio again Thursday.
Patrick Bailey
Patrick Bailey Idle Wednesday
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 2:26 PM
Bailey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: After starting behind the dish in 13 of the Giants' first 15 games, Bailey will now take a seat for the second time in three contests. Rookie Daniel Susac will draw the start at catcher Wednesday, but Bailey will presumably check back into the lineup for Thursday's series finale.
Heliot Ramos
Heliot Ramos Hitting bench Wednesday
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 2:24 PM
Ramos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Ramos will receive an evening off while the Giants make room in their starting outfield for their two new Triple-A call-ups, Will Brennan and Drew Gilbert. The 26-year-old saw his six-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 showing in Tuesday's 2-1 loss.
Drew Gilbert
Drew Gilbert Summoned to big club
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 1:51 PM
The Giants recalled Gilbert from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Analysis: With San Francisco moving two outfielders in Harrison Bader (hamstring) and Jared Oliva (wrist) to the injured list, Gilbert and Will Brennan were summoned from Triple-A to restore some depth to the position group. Bader had been making regular starts prior to getting hurt, so his move to the IL could clear the way for either Gilbert or Brennan -- both of whom are left-handed hitters -- to claim a strong-side platoon role in the outfield. At Triple-A, Brennan (.956 OPS in 54 plate appearances) had been outperforming Gilbert (.289/.389/.400 slash line, 8.9 percent strikeout rate in 56 plate appearances) to begin the season.
Jared Oliva
Jared Oliva Suffers hamate bone fracture
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 1:48 PM
The Giants placed Oliva on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left wrist hamate fracture.
Analysis: It's unfortunate timing for Oliva, who would have been in line for a playing time bump with Harrison Bader (hamstring) also shelved. Instead, Oliva is likely headed for surgery that will sideline him several weeks. He is 1-for-7 in his limited opportunities this season.
Harrison Bader
Harrison Bader Placed on IL with hamstring strain
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 1:44 PM
The Giants placed Bader on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.
Analysis: Bader first hurt his hamstring late in spring training. While he avoided the IL initially, the injury has continued to linger and likely contributed to his lackluster .115/.145/.192 batting line. Jung Hoo Lee will likely shift over to center field while Bader is out, opening up right field for Jerar Encarnacion, Drew Gilbert and Will Brennan.
Will Brennan
Will Brennan Receives call-up to majors
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 1:42 PM
The Giants recalled Brennan from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Analysis: With Jared Oliva (wrist) and Harrison Bader (hamstring) landing on the injured list, Brennan and Drew Gilbert will move up to the majors to bolster the Giants' outfield depth.
Jung Hoo Lee
Jung Hoo Lee Multi-hit effort in loss
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 12:04 PM
Lee went 2-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: Lee singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth, marking his fourth multi-hit performance of the campaign. The 27-year-old outfielder has been productive of late, going 6-for-16 with two RBI, two doubles and a home run over the last four games. Overall, he's slashing .207/.262/.345 with seven RBI, four runs scored and a home run across 65 plate appearances in 17 games.
Caleb Kilian
Caleb Kilian Scoreless outing Tuesday
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 12:01 PM
Kilian allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning during Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: Kilian earned a bullpen job during spring training and has continued to impress early in the season. The 28-year-old right-hander tossed a scoreless sixth inning Tuesday and now owns a 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 10:4 BB:K across seven innings in eight appearances this season.
Willy Adames
Willy Adames Stays hot in Tuesday's loss
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 8:39 AM
Adames went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: All the game's scoring came on solo homers, with Adames accounting for the Giants' only run when he hammered a Brady Singer sweeper over the left-field fence in the fifth inning. The shortstop has racked up five multi-hit performances over the last seven games with seven doubles and two homers among his 11 hits, but somehow he has only three RBI to show for that impressive surge as the rest of the San Francisco offense struggles around him.
Robbie Ray
Robbie Ray Takes tough-luck loss Tuesday
Wed, Apr 15, 2026, 8:35 AM
Ray (2-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs on two hits and four walks over five innings as the Giants fell 2-1 to the Reds. He struck out six.
Analysis: The southpaw tossed only 52 of 94 pitches for strikes, but it was his command and not his control that ended up costing him -- both Cincy runs came on solo shots by Spencer Steer in the third inning and Sal Stewart in the fourth, when Ray's pitches caught too much of the plate. He has yet to give up more than two runs in a start this season, posting a 2.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 24:10 K:BB through 22.1 innings, and Ray will look for more run support in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend against the Nationals.
Harrison Bader
Harrison Bader Nursing minor hamstring injury
Tue, Apr 14, 2026, 4:10 PM
Bader has been dealing with a minor left hamstring injury since spring training, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: It helps explain why he's out of the Giants' lineup Tuesday for the second straight game. Bader first tweaked his hamstring less than a week before Opening Day, and it seems the injury is still bothering him. It could at least partly explain the veteran outfielder's lackluster .115/.145/.192 batting line in his first 15 contests this season. At this point, it does not seem the injured list is under consideration for Bader. Jared Oliva is starting in center field and batting ninth Tuesday in Cincinnati in Bader's absence.
Luis Arraez
Luis Arraez Good to go Tuesday
Tue, Apr 14, 2026, 4:05 PM
Arraez (wrist) is starting at second base and batting second Tuesday against the Reds, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Arraez was held out of the lineup Sunday after leaving Saturday's contest with a wrist contusion, but he's ready to rejoin the lineup after Monday's team off day. The 29-year-old has a .304/.339/.393 slash line with a double, two triples, two steals, six RBI and six runs through 15 games this season.
